A night in BarCelona
Started out the week with a night out on the town with friend Mark… and just when we were wondering where to go on a Monday night (that would be open past 10pm), we joined my roommate Jessica and her friend Mike at BarCelona in the downtown McAllen area.
Before we got to BarCelona, we had drinks at Osuka—where they have some of the best cucumber martinis, and El Divino— an...
Salsa, merengue and what?!?
So I recently began singing with a band, which turns out to be a lot of fun. But what happens when our entire repertoir is made up of genre you are not familiar with?
Even though I’m a Latin woman, I was not, in any way, raised listening to salsa, cumbia, merengue and didn’t even know what bachata was until recently.
This gig is slowly turning into one HUGE eye opener for me. People...
...Next!
The past couple of weeks have been a tad hectic with too much work and hardly any time. I spent many night up working..working for as much as 36 hrs. non-stop…but it has all been worth it. After the logo approval for 3911 Lounge, I met with the owners yesterday to go over their entire image for 2010 and they absolutely LOVED it. As soon as all the info gets approved, I’ll post some of...

...and we're back!
To the green smoothies that is. So after a week of having green smoothies every morning, I decided to go back to regular food and was really surprised to see how my body just wasn’t used to that. I began feeling tired and even had a hard time at night trying to sleep. So today I decided I will stick to my green drinks from now on.
During the week that I was drinking the smoothies, I took my...

2010 has to be good...
I don’t know about you, but 2009 was absolutely awful for me (and a bunch of friends as well). Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, they would. Businesses closing, relationships went sour, gas prices were up, and people began looking for second jobs. But luckily the year is over and done with, and 2010 is starting to look fantastic.
I started off the year working on...

Om Mani Pehme Hum
For the past couple of months I’ve been thinking about getting another tattoo done (as soon as I get my sparrow filled in of course). So I began looking for mantras and this one is my top choice at the moment.
This is the famous Mani mantra of loving kindness and compassion: Om Ma Ni Peh Me Hum The meaning of the Mantra by His Holiness the Dalai Lama: “It is very good to recite...

Sad, sad day
Today was a very sad day. After over two years of being my faithful companion, my laptop was diagnosed with a terminal illness. It truly has been a difficult day and I’m preparing for the end (funeral service TBA).
So after freaking out and trying to find a solution, my incredible brother Jay came to my rescue and is letting me use his recently-purchased MacBook…and oh boy, it is...
Seeing green x)
So today I started making green smoothies…and no people! They are not gross, I actually enjoyed it. Some of my friends were asking what ingredients I used, so here ya’ go:
1 cup of orange juice
3/4 handful of spinach
1/2 apple
1/2 banana
1 egg
papaya (to taste)
splash of lemon
The smoothie tasted great (between the banana and papaya you forget there’s even spinach in...

No internet.. what do you mean?!?
Why is it that when we need something that very minute, it refuses to work? I can live without makeup, I can live without a heater (it’s been cold here)….but I can’t, I cannot live without my phone, or even worse—without Internet. And mine decided to take the day off… until around 8:30 tonight. I couldn’t access my email, couldn’t tweet, or even facebook....

Junk on the tube
Today was quite a productive day!!! I worked on the “new image” for a local bar (from logo design, to business cards, flyers, menus, decals, etc), and so far the client is happy with what I’ve presented to him. So as the day progressed, I moved from desk, to the dining table and eventually to the couch…which led to me turning the TV on, and boy…was I blown away. How...
New year = new goals
So 2010 is finally here and I couldn’t be any more excited about it. My new roommate is finally settled in, the dogs are getting along, and work is picking up once again. Along with the new year come the famous “resolutions,” and a friend asked what mine was earlier today…. my answer came quite fast… to be gone by the summer. So I spent a majority of the evening...
