Off to Location...day 32
Tamara totally surprised me today when she arrived at the office by asking me to help her at the filming our V-Day tv promo for BlackBerry Curve 3. We headed over to Santa Fe to the very trendy (and luxurious) night club, Hyde—our set and location for the first part of the day. As we arrived, we were welcomed by a crew of 30 people, 40 actors and 2 go-go dancers. Even though the two main...

Have a good feeling about this...day 31
Monday have never been my thing…heck! Mornings have never been my thing and it only gets worse on a Monday. But today was a tad different, probably since I knew I’d be working on the design team for the day once again. First task of the day was to finish the pre-paid brochure, which turned out really good and was submitted for approval. Later in the day I was assigned part of the print...

Take me out to the ball game...day 30
I find it really hard to believe that I’m up and about by 8 am on weekends…it’s surreal to me LOL
Today I decided to go with Sergio and Jay over to Liga Olmeca (baseball little league) and help them promote their Wilson products mini shop. So by 9:15am we were set and Jay had a table full of customers. It was nice to be back in the baseball scene and see the kids so into the...

Early start...day 29
Yesterday’s lunch at Le Pain was soooo good, that I had to go back for an early breakfast with Sergio this morning (8am on a saturday!). Even though it was a chilly morning—at least for me it was, we decided to have breakfast outside and had our waiter turn on one of the heater towers. I had missed having breakfast/brunch with Sergio at Le Pain. It seems that since we moved to the...

One of the designers...day 28
Since my laptop charger died at the office, I have decided to not take my own computer to work…instead, I volunteered to help put the graphic design team and use of their beautiful 24” Macs. The day went by so fast since we had so much work to do and finish by Monday. I was assigned the pre-paid plan brochure and so far it’s looking pretty good.
Today I went out for lunch with...

Just my luck...day 27
First thing this morning I headed over to the iShop on Masaryk thinking that things would be fixed right away, and it’d be as if nothing had ever happened. WRONG!
After being there with one of their techs for a while, he figures out what the problem was, but notices a hardware problem. As he is inputting all my info into their database to file a report to have my charger replaced and my...

My MacBook died?!? Day 26
It seems that just as I began to really use my MacBook more for designs for one of Sergio’s projects, my charger decides to die on me. I tried to go to the nearest iShop, but traffic was insane and there’s no way I could have made it in before closing time. So for now I’m using Jay’s charger and have decided not to take my personal MacBook to the office anymore…after...

Get Creative...Day 25
I began working on Jessica’s invite yesterday and finally figured out what I wanted to do…turn Jess into a sexy cartoon—along with Harold and Morgan. I was somewhat nervous of sending Jess the design, specially since I wanted it to be way better than last year’s… and I succeeded! She loved it, along with some of our friends.
By the time I got home, I began working on...

He made Monday better...day 24
No matter how hard I try, and positive I am…Mondays are just flat out evil! Today was a long day at the office, so I took advantage of the time I had to look up different ideas for Jessica’s annual birthday celebration invites. This year’s theme is CandyLand—Katy Perry style. I also began brainstorming on some designs Sergio needs for an upcoming baseball clinic.
If...

Clean home=happy family ...day 23
Once again, the boys woke up early and headed off to work. I had planned to sleep some more, but even though we had stayed out late the night before, I was wide awake and in the mood to clean. By 11am, I had swept, mopped, changed the sheets, cleaned the kitchen (including stove), washed clothes and spent an hour on the phone with my mom. Talk about a productive morning!!!
In the afternoon I...

Let's go shopping!... Day 22
I love saturdays like today. The boys woke up early for Jay’s first day of work and I headed to the salon for a much needed massage and a facial. Mimi has incredible hands and she really knows her products! I got out of the salon about 45 minutes before the boys closed shop, so I headed over the “La Esquina Argentina” for some empanadas and sangrias. They then joined me for lunch...

Head...about...to explode...Day 21
Day five of to caffein and I think my head is going to explode any minute now. I don’t remember ever having withdrawal symptoms.
On a better note, I’m LOVING our new DouChef! I baked the most delish brownie ever…and the apartment smelled like heaven ;) Tonight I’ll be baking either cookies or an orange cake—and using our new washer/dryer for the first time!!! Never...

Sephora makes me happy...day 19
I had recently heard that Sephora would be opening it’s first store in Latin America here in Mexico City, but not much information was given. So today, I did some research and found out they’ll be opening TWO stores…and I almost cried LOL.
If there’s one store I miss is Sephora, ordering stuff online or having my mom going to buy things for me just ins’t the same. I...

Green Tea please...day 17
Over the last couple of weeks I may have over done it with the coffee and cokes—having to much caffein when I’ve been told by my cardiologist to avoid it is not a good idea. So today I decided to go back to green tea, and so far I’m doing good. Five cups a day worked incredible for me last time I used green tea to detox, so let’s hope for the best.

Why are we so tired? Day 16
Once again, Sergio had a plan..and it didn’t go as we wanted it to. Waking up early on weekends is not really our thing. Good thing is we knew what we needed done by the end of the day and we did it.
The first stop of the day was Idea Design Store, which is an equivalent to Ikea, but maybe a third the size. Even though we were going strictly to purchase a pantry closet, we ended up buying...

Productive Saturday, for sure...day 15
The original plan was to be up by 9 this morning, and at our first stop of the day by 10. Good luck! Sergio and I didn’t leave home until around 1 PM, and even though we left so late, we got soooo many things done. First stop of the day was the bank to update my info and file my first credit card application of the day. Next was Palacio de Hierro in Plaza Coyoacan to check out my cyber-love...
Stores: Beware, I just got paid! Day 14
There are two days that I look forward to every month—Paydays!!! And luckily for me, today is the day :)
This weekend we’ll be taking advantage of the time we have as much as possible. We’ll be checking out the washer/dryer, buying a pantry (sometimes it looks like our kitchen is about to start throwing food back at us since we don’t have much room to store things), update...

My cyber-love...day 13
During the past seven months, Jay and I have had arguments, mostly relating to one thing: him forgetting to drop off my clothes at the laundry place to get washed, or dropping the off so late that they’re ready almost two days later. Today I decided to do something about it, and began the search for the perfect washer and dryer. Luckily it didn’t take too long—just a search in...

Oven, you win! Day 12
If there’s one thing I have always loved is to bake…muffins, cakes, cookies, anything. Since we moved to Mexico City, I had been waiting to buy all my baking materials and tools and bake away. So after moving in December I began baking, and each time was a huge let down, followed by a cloud of smoke—literally! No matter how much I supervised and tried to control temperature,...

Done! day 11
I finally finished my portfolio!!!
After working on it for what seemed an eternity, I finished it. Picking out the projects that I wanted to include was a tad difficult since I didn’t want to seem like a desperate attempt to include everything. So, along with the help of Sergio, I picked out a few logos, ads I designed for print media, and event campaigns. The last I enjoyed designing the...

Lazy Sunday with Watermelon Martinis...day 9
The weekend slowly came to an end, luckily we got some good rest, had great homemade food, and are ending it with fresh watermelon martinis. Tomorrow we start a new week, Sergio goes back to class (7am), and hopefully tomorrow I’ll get the answer I’ve been waiting for for the past two weeks. Wish y’all a great Monday and may it not be another long week.

Saturday in the Kitchen...day 8
Today we woke up and headed out the door to show Jay all the different things that are nearby…since we moved last month to the north side of town, he’s felt a little lost and confused. Upon returning home, Sergio and I went straight to the kitchen to make some homemade burgers that turned out so, so good (and huge), along with mashed potatoes. Even though I only had one burger, I ended...

TGIF...Day 7
This week seemed to go by a tad slow, maybe because things were a tad slow at the office, maybe cause everyone there looked like a zombie dragging (including myself) or maybe just because I was really looking forward to this weekend.
As I always do, I came home for lunch with Jay and ordered sandwiches from Garabatos, which were delish. Jay had a milanesa sandwich, I had a buffalo wing sandwich,...

Ran out...day 6
I must say it was great while it lasted…my bottle of champagne that is. We opened it on sunday to celebrate a few things: the new year, the beginning of the second months at our new home, first brunch of the year, and three months with Sergio. So today, after enjoying mimosas for the past couple of days, I killed the bottle.
As much as Sergio hates me keeping random things, this bottle...

Lookbook almost ready...day 5
For the past couple of months, I had been trying to put a portfolio together of all my work over the last few years, but for some reason or another I either didn’t get to it or wasn’t too happy with the ideas. Finally, about 6 weeks ago I began working on it, and I’m so glad to say I only need about three more spreads to send it to be printed. Can’t wait to have the...

2011, Year of the Rabbit...day 4
The history of the Chinese Zodiac is very interesting! It is said that Buddha invited all of the animals in the world to join him for the New Year celebrations, but only 12 animals bothered to turn up. As a great reward, Buddha named a year after each one of them and they actually run in the order that the animals arrived to celebrate with Buddha, starting with the rat and ending with the...

Awesome soup...day 3 of 365
Cooking friday night was tons of fun, and even though we were missing one key ingredient to our tomato basil soup, it turned out pretty darn good. So for those of you who asked, here’s the recipe:
Tomato Basil (Madeline) soup
Ingredients
1 can (28oz) crushed tomatoes
1 can (11.5 oz) tomato-vegetable juice cocktail (for this I recommend a low sodium one)
1 can (14.5 oz) chicken broth

First brunch of the year...day 2 of 365
For the past couple of months, a bottle of champagne sat in our freezer probably feeling a tad lonely. On different occasions I thought about opening it, but for one reason or another I didn’t. But today was the day!
Last night I got it in my head that I wanted to cook brunch for the guys, so that’s exactly what I did as soon as I woke up…and it turned out delish! I prepared...
